Going Home

It is with a mixture of great sadness but prevailing joy that we celebrate the life of Ashley Hye Ri Hyon. Due to a sudden medical emergency two weeks prior, Ashley passed from this world to Heaven on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 9:35pm EST. This was two weeks before her 22nd wedding anniversary on July 4, 2020.

Everyone who knew Ashley knew her for the same qualities: easy going with an infectious laugh, a sensitivity that caused her to regularly tear during commercials, serious/dedicated and hardworking about her company/career, a loud and proud soccer mom, and most of all, a loving mother and wife. One of six siblings and the youngest of four sisters, she was the relative that brought people together for occasions both big and small. She was also the sister and aunt that the family reached to for empathy and level-headedness in times of crisis. She never wanted to be the center of attention, but rather elevated everyone around her. In the last few weeks the outpouring of support from so many different groups - family, friends, her church, her workplace, soccer families, the neighborhood, etc. - has revealed that so many additional lives had the privilege of knowing and loving Ashley.

All who knew Ashley knew that her biggest driving force in life was to provide a loving home and life of opportunities for her daughter, Sophie. Sophie, now 13, embodies the fruits of Ashley's motherhood: kind, hard-working, empathetic, excellent in the classroom and on the soccer field, and a maturity beyond her years. Ashley never attempted to hide how proud she is of her daughter; Sophie is and always will be Ashley's greatest accomplishment.

Ashley is survived by her husband John, daughter Sophie, and pup Daisy. We ask for your continued prayer and care for John, Sophie and Daisy. Please pray for wisdom, guidance, healing and unity for the family as they enter this new and difficult phase of life.

The family is thankful for and humbled by the amount of support they've received during these last few weeks. In the midst of one of the most difficult times of their lives, they have felt the love of support of so many. Thank you.

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Philippians 4:4-9

We noticed this rainbow behind the Hyon house while meeting with family for the first time since Ashley’s passing. It’s one of the many signs we’ve received showing us that Ashley is at peace.
